Treatment of Me 2 Si(C 5 H 5 )Cl with Li 2 C 2 B 10 H 10 followed by hydrolysis gave the new versatile ligand Me 2 Si(C 5 H 5 )(C 2 B 10 H 11 ) in 79% isolated yield, which can be converted into the monoanion, dianion, and trianion, respectively. It makes possible the synthesis of a wide range of organometallic complexes.
