A piezoelectric ceramic plate, PZT 52/48, was applied to detect the hypervelocity impact of a microprojectile. The projectiles were accelerated by a gas gun and a plasma accelerator. The output voltage signal of PZT 52/48 was evaluated with respect to the diameter and momentum of the projectile. A good linear relation was found in the momentum range up to 1×10-4 kg·m/s. It was confirmed that the PZT 52/48 plate is a suitable material for the detection of the hypervelocity impact of a microptojectile up to 4.2 km/s.
