The glass formation boundaries were determined in the Bi 2 O 3 -SrO-CuO, Bi 2 O 3 -CaO-CuO and Bi 2 O 3 -SrO-CaO-CuO systems and in more complex compositions with PbO by the melt-quenching method. Using DTA, the glass transition temperature T g , softening temperature T s , crystallization temperature T x and the temperature range of melting were established. Some regions of composition in the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system were found where crystalline phases of the type Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca n-1 Cu n O x (n=1, 2, 3) were identified. A scheme is suggested to obtain superconducting glass-ceramics by pressing and thermal treatment (at 820-840 degrees C) of amorphous powders.
