Notice of Violation of IEEE Publication Principles"Biologically Inspired Solutions to Fundamental Transportation Problems,"by Ozan K. The material contributed by Michel Ferreira and Pedro M. d'Orey can be found in IEEE Xplore in this recently posted paper:"On the Impact of Virtual Traffic Lights on Carbon Emissions Mitigation"by Michel Ferreira and Pedro M. d'Oreyin the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation SystemsTraffic congestion in urban areas is an acute problem which is getting worse with the increased urbanization of the world population. The existing approaches to increasing traffic flow in urban areas have proven inefficient as they are expensive and therefore not scalable. It is shown in this article that a biologically inspired new approach could solve some of the fundamental transportation problems via a self-organizing traffic management paradigm.
