From 4 dental students practicing conventional oral hygiene, samples of plaque were taken at weekly intervals. Before the introduction of a sodium fluoride containing dentifrice, the fluoride concentration of the plaque was 24–45 ppm (dried weight basis) and afterwards it was 42–229 ppm.
