A detailed description is presented for analyzing temperature-dependent, resolved NMR quadrupole powder spectra in terms of the results of the recent analytical-theoretical treatment of NMR fine-structure centers undergoing orientational stochastic motion in polycrystalline-amorphous condensed matter. The specific NMR quadrupole centers investigated are the sup2D (I=1) nuclear spins in the perdeuterated poly(ethylene) polymer system. It is shown that reliable experimental orientation-motional correlation times {τ} and the corresponding spin-spin relaxation times T₂ can be obtained directly and uniquely from resolved first-order NMR quadrupole structures under slow motion as well as from motionally narrowed, structureless NMR spectra under fast motion.
