Cross-sectional survey reveals an awareness-to-usage gap for digitized library resources among undergraduates, highlighting barriers related to metadata accuracy and availability.
The study surveyed 526 University of Cape Coast undergraduates on awareness and usage of digitized library resources, using a quantitative cross-sectional design and stratified sampling. Findings showed 65.2% were aware of digitized resources, 51.3% had used them, but 39.7% reported no use at all, revealing an awareness-to-usage gap unrelated to age, gender, level, or college (all p > .05). Accessibility and searchability ranked as top benefits while resource availability and metadata accuracy were key challenges. Satisfaction averaged 3.45/5. Findings are framed using TAM and Diffusion of Innovations, with a Perceived Observability Mediation Model proposed for future testing.
