Numerous innovative reactor projects have emerged in response to the decarbonisation challenges. These projects require codes and standards as well as the use of emerging digital technologies. Most of the results presented in this publication stem from the HARMONISE project ( https://harmonise-project.eu/ ) where the requirements for codes and standards, as well as the use of emerging digital technologies, were identified for innovative reactor projects. A questionnaire was distributed to Standards Development Organisations and other industrial sectors to identify requirements already covered and those that were not. Analysis of the responses received enabled us to map out the needs that were being met and, for those that were not, recommendations were made on how to address them. As far as it concerns codes and standards, the methodologies are well known since they involve introducing new materials, extending the operating conditions of existing materials, or using new manufacturing processes, while recommendations in terms of methodology have been made. For emerging digital technologies the recommendations are less precise since, for most of them, regulatory requirements have yet to be defined. A recommendation of interest is that of reaching out to other industrial sectors facing the same challenges in order to identify potential solutions.
