The intensities of the electric dipole transitions within the 4f10 configuration of Ho3+ in YPO4 have been measured. They can be described with the Judd‐Ofelt theory. The fitted parameters show that the configuration 4f10 interacts stronger with the configurations nd94f11 (n = 3, 4) than with the configurations 4f9nd (n ≥ 5). The total interactions with g‐electrons and with d‐electrons are of the same order.
