Paramagnetic resonance of trivalent erbium and ytterbium in single crystals of yttrium arsenate has been observed at K‐band frequencies and temperatures of 4.2 and 1.6 K. Spin‐Hamiltonian parameters have been determined and the ground state eigenfunctions are discussed.
