This paper describes the palaeomagnetism and magnetic fabric of 40 samples of a laminated silt from Agen Allwedd, Powys. The sediments contain a very stable depositional remanent magnetization due to the presence of magnetite. The similarity of remanence directions at several locations suggests that deposition was synchronous throughout the cave. A method is used to correct the remanence for the effects of water currents, taking into account the information provided by the susceptibility anisotropy. Evidence provided by these sediments suggests that a model which describes bedding errors observed in the laboratory can be successfully applied to these natural materials on slopes as high as 29°.
