SUMMARY. A root disease of the tomato, due to Colletotrichum tabificum (Hallier pro parte) Pethybridge, has been investigated and described. The pathogen is considered to be identical with Rhizoctonia tabifica Hallier, Vermicularia varians Ducomet, Sclerotium setosum Bewley and Shearn, and possibly Colletotrichum solanicolum O'Gara.
