An overall power-conversion efficiency of 5.4% is achieved at 1 sun AM1.5G by novel composite polymer electrolytes, prepared by filling them with titania nanotubes (NTs) produced by electrochemical anodization. The TiO2 NTs are transformed into a powder that is further incorporated in a polymer redox electrolyte. The addition of the filler increases the open-circuit photopotential of the dye-sensitized solar cell by more than 80 mV, reaching values of up to 843 mV.
