In Apium nodiflorum two kinds of exine-held material are observed: pollenkitt and residuals of the polysaccharidc primexine matrix. The latter is forming a loose texture inbetween the tectum elements, while pollenkitt exists in spaces between bacules as well as the outer exine surface. Furthermore the existance of an exinic outer membrane is discussed.
