On June 13, the White House sponsored an Organ Summit timed to build on the excitement surrounding the American Transplant Congress in Boston and the World Transplant Games in Cleveland. The American Society of Transplantation (AST) and American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) were pleased to not only participate at this invitation-only event, but also to serve as resources throughout the planning. ASTS was represented by Charles Miller, MD, president; Timothy Pruett, MD, president-elect; and Kim Gifford, MBA, executive director; and AST was represented by Anil Chandraker, MD, president; Ronald Gill, PhD, president-elect; and Libby McDannell, executive vice president.
