Weed populations were regulated in small field plots in 1967 and 1968 in a com field which experienced a high incidence of com stunt during the past several years. In both years leafhopper vectors Graminella nigrifrons Forbes were more abundant in weedy plots than in moderately weedy or weed-free plots (significant in 1968 only). However, disease incidence was higher in the weed-free plots than in the other plots (significant in 1968 only). No significant yield differences were obtained in either year. Brachiaria piatyphylla, goosegrass, and crabgrass appeared to be species of importance in the epidemiology of corn stunt disease in the study area.
