An intense, relativistic electron beam (50 nsec, 400 kV, 20 kA) has been successfully injected and confined in a toroidlike system. Up to 50% of the total beam energy was injected into a 3.8-kG toroidal field. The beam was observed to have been trapped for at least 300 nsec which corresponded to five revolutions. Magnetic-probe and hard-x-ray data are presented to confirm trapping, and some general trends are noted from these preliminary results.
