A simple method for calculating the moments of the radius of gyration of polymers is developed. It can be applied to any molecule which does or does not possess close circuits in its structure. In the Rouse theory of viscoelastic behaviour, various functions such as the zero‐shear‐rate viscosity, η0, and the steady‐state recoverable compliance, J , are directly related to the moments of the radius of gyration and hence the results obtained may prove useful for interpreting rheological data.
