The triploid (2n = 30) female hop genotype 56008, hand pollinated with pollen from 10 different males, produced 0.35 seeds per cone. No striking differences in seed set due to the male parent were observed. Seed set among other open pollinated triploid genotypes averaged about 2.8% by weight. Chromosome numbers in the seedling progeny of a triploid × diploid cross varied from the diploid 2n = 20 to 2n = 55. Tetraploids made up the largest group, followed by double trisomics and primary trisomics in that order. A series of karyotypes with chromosome numbers ranging from 2x + 1 to 2x + 9 was recovered.
