A radiation furnace for rapidthermal‐annealing experiments is introduced, in which infrared lamps serve as heat sources. It can be regulated fast enough in order to produce temperature profiles which involve temperature variations within the order of seconds. The furnace was tested in self‐diffusion studies of 59Fe in amorphous Fe40Ni40B20. It was found that the Fe self‐diffusion coefficient obeys an Arrhenius law even at temperatures which are too high to be realized in a conventional furnace without the onset of crystallization.
