Project AGE: Alliance for Gerontology Education is a personnel preparation project designed to help allied health students develop competencies needed to serve the elderly. Project AGE sought to infuse gerontology content across four focus areas into blind rehabilitation, community health, dental hygiene, dietetics, exercise science, occupational therapy, recreation, and speech pathology and audiology curricula. The Project's faculty team, drawn from nine allied health disciplines, produced Infusing Gerontology into Your Curriculum: A Guide for the Allied Health and Human Service Professions. The curriculum addresses (1) cultural diversity, (2) assistive technologies, (3) interdisciplinary teamwork, and (4) health promotion. It may be used in any course, regardless of discipline. Its exercises will develop competencies in students preparing to practice in allied health and human service disciplines. Instructions and ready-to-copy student handouts are provided for each exercise. Enough activities are included so instructors can select those most relevant to their class and students.
