The behavior of poly-2-vinylpyridine in aqueous solution as a function of neutralization with hydrochloric acid has been investigated by viscosity and light scattering measurements, the results confirm prior results obtained by spectroscopic techniques. An extension of the macroion occurs during neutralization. Turbidity measurements indicate a conformational transition at about 0.5 neutralization.
