Abstract—There is an impetuous need for easy-to-build electrical machines with high specific thrust for various applications. The paper deals with a new modular variable reluctance tubular machine. It is a transverse flux machine without permanent magnets. Its construction is detailed and the novelty of the proposed structure is emphasized. A sample machine is analyzed by analytical and numerical means. The results of the analyses are validated by testing a laboratory model of the motor. 1.
