Based on solving the Navier-Stokes and energy equations by a factored finite-volume method, the physical mechanism of the intensification of heat exchange in a minichannel with dimple vortex generators at the heated wall during transformer oil circulation is analyzed. It is shown that oval dimples are preferable to spherical analogs.
