The dependence of water self‐diffusion coefficients measured by NMR on sample composition is reported for lamellar phases of ammonium perfluoro‐octanoate (APFO) and caesium perfluoro‐octanoate (CsPFO) at 296 K. For APFO the results were not very reproducible, and a detailed examination of the effect of different measurement variables on the results was made. Comparison of the data with measurements made by neutron scattering indicates that diffusion across the alkyl chain region of the lipid bilayer is rapid at high water mol fractions.
