Key result
Recent landmark trials support individualized CV care over routine adoption of unproven interventions.
Why the study?
Contemporary cardiovascular practice is increasingly shaped by randomised evidence addressing pragmatic clinical questions, warranting a review of selected landmark trials from 2025-2026 across major cardiovascular domains.
This update reviews landmark trials from 2025-2026 across multiple cardiovascular domains, highlighting the shift towards individualized care based on pragmatic randomized evidence.
Review of 2025-2026 pragmatic RCTs informs CV domains; leaves open translation of specific findings to practice.
Contemporary cardiovascular practice is increasingly shaped by randomised evidence addressing pragmatic clinical questions. This update reviews selected landmark trials from 2025-2026 across coronary intervention, structural heart disease, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, and lipid management. The studies examine long-term beta-blocker use after myocardial infarction, left ventricular unloading, physiology- and imaging-guided PCI, PCI timing before TAVI, left atrial appendage closure, spironolactone in HFpEF/HFmrEF, catheter-directed fibrinolysis, and intensive LDL-C lowering. Together, they support more individualised cardiovascular care while identifying interventions that should not be adopted routinely without demonstrated clinical benefit.
