Between July and September 1953 a series of carrion-bait trappings of blowflies was carried out on an upland area of sheepwalks, on the Roxburgh-Dumfries border. The objects of the trappings were to study the distribution of blowflies over terrain showing topographic diversity, to map the pattern of dispersal through the local populations of a released group of blowflies, and to test the effect of a steep hill slope as a barrier to their diffusion.
