The crystal structure of adipic acid has been fully determined. Cell dimensions: a = 10.07, b = 5.16, c = 10.00 Å, β = 137°5′. Space group C2h, ‐ P21/a. The approximately flat molecules have a centre of symmetry and are stretched along the c axis. The atomic positions are derived from two projections of the electronic density. The interatomic distances are discussed.
