By using a chiral quark cluster model for a system of two nonstrange baryons, we analyze the consequences of the symmetry requirements from the underlying quark structure. Quark Pauli and dynamical correlations are studied putting the emphasis in the different repulsive mechanisms implied in the NN (nucleon-nucleon) and ΔΔ systems. We find an alternative explanation for the short-range repulsion in the NN system, up to now attributed to the one-gluon exchange potential. A ΔΔ interaction, derived from a basic quark-quark potential fitted to the NN sector, is studied in detail.
