Thermolysis of [Ru3(CO)10NOMe], 1, in refluxing n-octane affords the new hexaruthenium carbonyl cluster, [Ru6(CO)13(μ-CO)(μ3-NH)(μ5-N)(μ3-OMe){μ2-η2-C(O)OMe}2], 2, which consists of a distorted square-pyramidal of Ru5(μ5-N) metal framework capped by an extra Ru atom on one of the triangular faces by means of triply bridging nitrene and methoxy, as well as μ2-η2-carbomethoxy, moieties.
