The reflection coefficient of porous Vycor glass towards aqueous solutions of polyethylene glycol, measured by ultrafiltration, has negative values at lower polymer concentrations. This is in qualitative agreement with the abnormally low and negative values of the apparent osmotic pressure found by Elias for such systems. This work gives an example of anomalous osmosis in a nonelectrolyte system.
