Single-phase GIS-NaP1 zeolite particles were hydrothermally synthesized from inorganic precursor solutions. The as-synthesized GIS-NaP1 zeolite particles have spherical morphology similar to Myrica rubra fruit. These knobby surfaced GIS-NaP1 zeolite spheres of size 0.8 to 1.8 μm were composed of crystalline nanoparticles with a crystallite size of around 27.4 nm. The diffraction, spectroscopic and scanning analysis results evidently show high phase-purity of as-synthesized GIS-NaP1 zeolite particles of uniform size, shape and morphology. Textural characterization of as-synthesized GIS-NaP1 zeolite predicts the mesoporous character. The adsorption performances of H2 and CO2 on phase-pure GIS-NaP1 zeolite were investigated at 303 K and pressure ranging from 0 to 1 bar. Magnificently, as-synthesized GIS-NaP1 zeolite shows good adsorption potential for H2 (2.29 mmol g−1) compared to CO2 (0.03 mmol g−1). The high adsorption selectivity (76.33) to H2 over CO2 may be due to the small zeolitic pore diameter and high Si/Al ratio.
