Accelerated rejection of male skin isografts by B.C.G. infected female C57 BL mice was demonstrated. Skin was grafted 2 weeks following intravenous or intracutaneous injection of 1 mg B.C.G. This accelerated rejection was compared to previously reported inhibition of tumor growth in B.C.G. infected mice. Whereas it is not known at what phase of the rejection mechanism B.C.G. exerts its influence, it now appears likely that increased resistance to the grafted tissue is in both instances mediated by a heightened immune response.
