Shape characterisation of aggregates traditionally involve study of geometrical parameters in two dimensions (2D). But aggregates are essentially three-dimensional (3D) objects. A 2D measurement, therefore, may involve subjectivity and bias in its assessment. The present work demonstrates a simple approach for shape characterisation of aggregates in 3D domain, that can take care of the limitations associated with the 2D shape characterisation. This approach requires measurement of only two parameters, namely, surface area and volume of aggregates.
