Nuclear charge, mass, and kinetic energies were measured for fragments from the reactions of ⁸⁶Kr+ ¹²⁴Sn at 440- and 720-MeV bombarding energies. From these data it was deduced that the internal excitation energy of the strongly damped products divides proportionally with the mass.
