A wide band dielectric frequency domain spectrometer is described. The system is based on a computer controlled sampling oscilloscope, which is used as the amplitude and phase measuring unit. It is shown how the transmission method can be used to cover the whole frequency range from the MHz region to the upper limit of 18 GHz. As illustrative examples the dielectric spectra of benzyl alcohol, chlorobenzene and water have been studied.
