Decomposition of formic acid has been studied at 250°‐400°C on some heterogeneous catalysts. Alumina, silica, natural (clinoptilolite) and synthetic (3A, ZSM‐5) zeolites were used as catalysts. H‐ZSM‐5 mixed with γ‐alumina has been found to be the very good catalyst to prepare pure carbon monoxide in a laboratory practice.
