Tetrametallic rhodium and iridium blues, related to the well-known platinum blues, are formed by redox condensation of dinuclear pyrazolato rhodium and iridium complexes in different oxidation states. The metal atoms in these novel complexes, such as the cation [{Rh(μ-pz)(CNtBu)2}4]2+, have a fractional oxidation state of 1.5.
