Abstract (ON+)(Salen)ruthenium(II) complex 1 was found to be an effective catalyst for asymmetric tetrahydrofuranylation of alcohols. The tetrahydrofuranylation of optically active alcohols was also successfully performed in a highly diastereoselective manner by taking advantage of double diastereodifferentiation.
