The crystal structure of tris(dipyridinium) dodecatungstophosphate has been determined. The [PW 12 O 40 ] 3- heteropolyanion, having T d symmetry, is disordered by the 3 symmetry. The pyridine molecules are paired around H + forming (C 5 H 5 N)-H + -(NC 5 H 5 ) cations with their molecular planes almost parallel to the ab plane of the crystal
