[3,3]Sigmatropic selenocyanate → isoselenocyanate rearrangements lead to the first synthesis of compounds in which the sensitive functional group–NCSe is directed into a vinylic position. The allenes 1 (R1, R2 = H or Me), and the buta-1,3-dienes 2 (R = H, Me) and 3, can be used for the preparation of selenazoles as well as for cycloadditions and deselenations to form isocyanides.
