We are concerned, however, that several of the recommendations poorly supported by evidence may lead to widespread use of potentially suboptimal regimens:Enterococcal Endocarditis, 4 weeks versus 6 weeks:In the absence of a comparative study, it is not clear why Mandell's carefully studied series of 38 patients supporting 6 weeks of therapy ("early, anecdotal, clinical experience and retrospective studies") should be less persuasive than the series of 13 patients and the unpublished communication cited in...References1.
