SUMMARY Parasite-free pigs given infective eggs of the swine whipworm (Trichuris suis) developed dysentery beginning 17 to 21 days postinfection, which did not respond to antibiotic therapy. Changes in biochemical and cytologic values were closely related to clinical signs and histologic changes. Histologic examination of infected pigs revealed moderately severe cecitis and colitis, with marked catarrhal inflammation.
