Advantageous merits of a high voltage electron microscope over conventional ones are believed to be as follows. Thicker specimens can be observed easily as a result of greater penetration power. Higher resolution in images is expected to be attained in consequence of greater penetration power and less aberration effects. Specimens are less damaged from the illuminating beam.
