The authors show how a double pass cylindrical mirror analyser can be modified for use as a simultaneous angle resolved photoelectron spectrometer. The full acceptance cone of the analyser is imaged on a two-dimensional position sensitive detector. The position information is stored in a two-dimensional multichannel analyser. The spectrometer accumulates multiple angle-resolved spectra simultaneously. Its energy resolution is determined as 0.9% FWHM and the angle-resolving capability is demonstrated with valence band spectra from Ag(111), giving an angular resolution in the present set-up of about two degrees.
