The decay channels after 1s to 3p and 1s to 4p excitation of Ne were studied by combining two experiments using (i) time-of-flight mass spectrometry and (ii) threshold electron-ion coincidence measurements. From the ion-yield spectra observed by these experiments, the decay channels for the 1s -1 3p resonance (two-step and resonant Auger shake-off) were estimated to be in the ratio 91%:9%; while for the 1s -1 4p resonance the ratio was 68%:32%. It is found that the two-step channel plays an important role in the decay of these resonances.
