In this paper, a new time reversal (TR)-based ultra-wideband (UWB) microwave method for hyperthermia treatment of breast cancer is presented. Two high-resolution techniques, time reversal (TR) and robust Capon beamformer (RCB), are employed to shape the transmitted signals both temporally and spatially. As shown in the 2D numerical simulations, this method has better electromagnetic (EM) energy focusing ability than the existing methods, and can provide the necessary temperature gradients required for effective hyperthermia.
