Functional groups of polymers and copolymers have been considered as the reaction sites for immobilization of transition‐metal complexes. A new type of polymer support has been described, i.e., carbon‐chain polymers with a surface modification due to graft polymerization of monomers with functional groups. Methods have been proposed for investigating the composition and structure of immobilized catalysts. Immobilization of transition metals on polymer supports has been shown to increase their catalytic activity considerably as compared to homogeneous and pseudo‐homogeneous analogs in polymerization processes.
