The Chapman-Miller method is the one most widely used for the determination of lunar daily variations in geophysical data. The joint IAGA/IAMAP committee on lunar variations has suggested that the method would be still more widely applied if a simple up-to-date account were available. This note is an attempt to provide such an account. The Chapman-Miller method is described with minimum mathematical detail, the method of determination of probable errors is improved, and a computer program is appended.
