The modifications of the domain structure of barium ferrite single crystals in magnetic fields directed parallel to the hexagonal axis are investigated. Planimetry of the areas of domains of opposite polarity on the hexagonal plane gives an estimate of the relative magnetization of the samples for values of the field up to about 4000 Oe. In fields up to 1500–2000 Oe the magnetization occurs by displacement of the Bloch walls without any appreciable variation of the total surface of the walls. In higher fields, the disparity of inverse domains and the appearance of small radial cylindrical inverse domains is observed.
